Prop Tutorial: Idol Master Boot Cover (Idol Master)

Transform your boots! Let's make Idol Master boot covers<3

The girls in Idol Master DS have awesome boots ~ so let's try making some boot covers! You can replicate quite a few of the girls' footwear with a similar technique -- so give it a try!

 Things you'll need
-stretch fabric (shiny prismatic and enamel finish white)
-elastic band
-double-sided tape (for fabric)
-boots
-lightweight pattern paper
*not shown: metal ring, star spangles, zipper (optional), sewing machine

Step 1: Trace the shape of your boots onto the pattern paper (2 patterns). Be sure to bend the paper with the curve of your boots for an accurate measurement. Your finished pattern should cover the whole boot when the two halves are joined.

Step 2: Cut the pattern paper, taking care to cut a clean curved line. You'll be working with two pattern pieces per boot cover but it's best to cut both boots` fabric with the same set of patterns for symmetry's sake.

Step 3: Cut and shape your base fabric. Turn the prismatic cloth inside out and trace you cover pattern onto the back side before cutting. Adjust your design to fit boots (note, the soles of your boots will not be covered and the boot's heel is completely free). If you mean to add a zipper, make any necessary adjustments.

Step 4: Now for cuffs in stretch enamel! Turn your fabric right-side-out. Use double-sided tape to stick your white stretch enamel cuffs and bottoms to the boot covers. (cutting it isn't included in the tutorial, sorry). Be careful not to stretch your fabric when measuring or cutting.

Step 5: With both pieces turned inside-out, join the fabrics all together with seams front and back. Take care to seal only the arch of the sole, leaving the rubber soles, heel and tops of your boot covers open. Don't overdo it!

Step 6: Turn your covers right-side out and stick some star accessories to the side. Use the elastic band (shown below painted gold and joined with a metal ring) to hold the covers on tightly to your soles without and permanent adhesive.
