Fujifilm HS20

Last time, I discussed something about Hubby selling our Lumix camera and also buying a DSLR Pentax Camera. Oh well, here we go again -.- Hubby and I were broke! >.< Anyways, I'm happy yet kinda sad (because we're broke xD) because Hubby bought me a bridge type super zoom camera. It just means that I'm now into photography *hurray* I'll start practicing doing some shots tomorrow so that I'll be ready for this Friday and Saturday's event.

For those who don't know what Fujifilm Finepix HS20 is, here's how it looks:

Update (3/14/12): Well I'm kinda dismayed with the result of the pics that I've taken so Hubby and I decided to sell this camera and we will buy a second hand DSLR for me. I'll just need to wait for that since Hubby spend the money that we get from this cam and bought some second hand lens worth Php11k O.o

P.S. You can browse some of the pics that I've taken here during the event. And oh, please do like my page as well. Thank you and enjoy ^.^

Fun Family Day

Yesterday, we had our family day together with Hubby's Family. Our first stop was at Cash & Carry Mall where my in-laws bought some medicines and other imported stuff. Then while we were going to the parking area my sister-in-law (Hubby's 2nd older sister) noticed that there was something wrong with my sandals. She asks me if I wanted to go back inside the mall to buy some super glue or buy some sandals so that I would not use my sandals anymore. Silly me, I didn't notice that lol xD

Well luckily, I found some pairs of slippers under the passenger's seat (inside the car of course xD) and it's just a little bigger on my feet. That's what I wore the whole day strolling around the Manila Bay, where our next stop is. I just look like I'm going to swim because of my outfit lol but still, it's fun. Hubby wants to have a test shot with his new bought DSLR camera so we decided to wait for the sunset. Aside from waiting for the sunset, we also wanted to try out the Ferris Wheel but the ticket costs Php150 each so we just sat there, took some photos and watch the sunset instead.

Goodbye Panasonic Lumix, Hello Pentax K-r

Me and Hubby must say good bye to the camera that gave us inspiration in photography, cosplay and going on the cosplay events; it's none other than the Panasonic Lumix 5. We bought that camera last December 2011. Sorry, I can't recall the exact date I can only remember that we purchased that on the 2nd week of December because of the incoming toy and cosplay event and also because my digicam was starting to act funny and I cannot use anything for the event. That was also the time that hubby told me that I should also cosplay xD At first, I was very hesitant because I'm not photogenic when I take pictures of myself and second, is because I'm a shy type and doesn't want to be in front of camera lololol So here's our first ever high-end digicam

Ying-Tze's Pattern Making Tutorial : Sailor Top Pattern

Cosmode magazine do provide free patterns and there are books specializes on Cosplay Costumes with lots of patterns for you to trace. However there's no magazine like that in our country (I guess >.<). If you want a better fit for your costume you have to make your own or make a commissioned one from seamstresses. That is, if you can afford them or you don't have time to make one :P So let's start!

Ying-Tze's Cosplay Make-up Tutorial

One of the main reason why I started blogging was because I was inspired of Ying-Tze's Blog. She made all of her costumes and did some tutorials on make up and sewing pattern. She portrays well of the characters she cosplays. I really adore her and I'm proud to say that I'm one of her fan girl :lololololol:

Here's one of her Cosplay Make-up Tutorial from her blog.

There are like millions of way to achieve the character " look " that you want . It really takes a lot of trial and errors before you know what kind of make up really suits you . ^^

Yuegene's Eye Make-up Tutorial

Yuegene shares her step-by-step guide on eye make-up tutorial. A special thanks to her for sharing this awesome tutorial :D

Sheryl's Mike (Macross Frontier)

Let's make Sheryl's mike with lionboard!

Here we're going to try to make Sheryl's mike with a styrofoam rod and some lionboard! You should be able to get your hands on the styrofoam rod at your local home center or hardware store, you can choose whatever size best suits you. Just be sure to choose something that you'll be able to wrap the lionboard around (in other words, take into account the thickness of the lionboard when choosing your rod).

Kimono Pattern

A free Kimono pattern. Use it as is to make doll’s clothing, or blow it WAY up to fit a real human. Kimonos are very simple garments, and so it isn’t difficult to make them fit all sorts of shapes and sizes. Lengthen or shorten the body or sleeves to achieve your desired look. Keep in mind that Kimonos require a lot of fabric!

The outside edges of all the patterns are sewing lines - YOU MUST ADD SEAM ALLOWANCES. The inner circles on the limbs are the recommended joint sizes.

I'm planning to use this plushie in one of my cosplans so I included it here ;)

This fellow comes with a seam allowance. If you print these patterns out at 8x10", you < should come up with a 1" grid, and he'll have a 1/4" seam allowance. That's a bit slim for some fabrics, which is why I do cutting-line patterns these days and let you choose your own. Also unlike my newer patterns, I've actually put grain line arrows on these pieces, showing the direction the fur should run.

♫♫ Cosplay 101 ♫♫

So you want to cosplay and you aren't sure who or which character? Maybe your stuck on how to sew a part of your cosplay? You're no good at props/wigs/costume so where can you buy it? How about what kind of pattern could help you create that piece? Of course, there are always the "Where/What kind of make-up?" "Looking for this or that wig, where can I get it?" "Contact lenses and what do you think?"

Worry no more because I found some interesting sites that would help you make the costume of your dreams. Just a little warning though, this is a long list of sites. Thanks to these guys they're really a life saver. Enjoy!

Note: Some of the links we're already dead so I'll try to revive them and get a review from them as much as I can :)

Hatsune Miku Kimono

Okay, as I've said in my previous post in Otaku Valentines 2012, I've got my commissioned Hatsune Miku Kimono from Devangelic Shop. It took me at least 2 weeks to wait in order for it to be done. I might say that I'm not 100% satisfied with the outcome but hey at least they tried their best in making it look alike. Now here's the picture that I ordered from them.

♥ Otaku Valentine's 2012 ♥

Love is in the air and so are the otakus. There's an event for otaku lovers in Bluewave at Diosdado Macapagal Blvd near SM Mall of Asia. The ticket costs for 120php and there's also some freebies including a free coke for everyone! The event was held in a small open space so its kinda hot inside. The event started at 10am and ended at around 4:30pm. The event includes a photo booth for couples, a wedding booth, a catwalk for cosplayer couple, some booths and some game trial. I also got my commissioned Hatsune Miku Kimono Costume from one of the sponsor of the events (Devangelic Shop) which I'm planning to wear it on April or May. There are only few people in Day 1 so I'm kinda thinking twice on attending the Day 2 tomorrow because the venue itself is quite far away from our home. By the way, here are some pics taken by hubby during the convention. Enjoy! ^.^v

The original price costs for about Php7,400 while I only get it for only Php3,700 :D I can't wait to use this, I just needed some sewing patterns and fabrics in order for me to get started.

Here are some snapshots of the Mini Portable Sewing Machine that I bought. Sorry for the poor quality of pictures, hubby bring his camera with him so i just use my cellphone camera instead :P

♥ Normal Day on Valentines Day ♥

Happy Valentines Day everyone! ^_^

I would just celebrate Valentines Day like a normal day since I'm loaded with household chores and also taking care of our baby. I'll just wait for hubby to arrive later from his office and I guess we'll just cook something (not so special) for dinner.
