Summary
This sequel does a great job of introducing and concluding issues that the couple faced dealing with the MC's family and Haruka's family.
Due to a surprise phone call from MC's mother, the couple ended up going to visit the MC's home in Kyushu. Haruka showed a side of him that surprised MC; he was nervous about meeting her family. This was not because he was having second thought. In fact, he wanted them to accept their relationship and that these were the people who raised the woman he loved.
Despite the MC's mom and brother warming up to him in a heartbeat, her father needed to be persuaded. He addressed how the MC and Haruka are from different worlds and did not want Haruka to be playing around with her. Haruka's level of determination came into a spotlight here as he bowed against the floor, explained how he fell in love with the MC and how she is the only one for him in a manner that nearly brought the MC to tears. Haruka later admitted that he was ready to be punched by her dad and he would never give up trying to convince him if he didn't approve right away.
When the weekend was over and they went back to the couple's home, other series of incident surfaced. It was decided that the MC was to be introduced as Haruka's fiance at the next ikebana event. This should have been a joyous event to celebrate, but the truth of how different their worlds were came into play once more. Haruka's family deemed the MC unsuited in terms of mannerisms (and background) to be a worthy bride for him. Therefore, she underwent strict training from his grandmother, Lady Kikuo, who was a woman that not even Haruka's father dared to disobey.
Unfortunately, the training didn't last as Lady Kikuo suddenly fell ill and was hospitalized for a few days. Lady Kikuo has always been the one who has the final say in the household and someone who has been supporting and preserving the Utsunomiya ikebana style. When she fell ill, the ikebana Association (who had been supporting the Utsunomiya style ever since they broke off as an individual style) took advantage and forced the Utsunomiya household to create pieces that did not represent, but disrespected their style. They also pressured the MC to follow the speech they prepared for her which lied about her upbringing and how she met Haruka.
The amazing thing in this route is how much the couple supported each other through such challenging times privately and publicly. This was shown more on Haruka's part because the MC had a lot on her plate and you can say that it was his turn to support her just like how she supported him in the main route. Haruka said that no matter what upbringing she came from he would always love her for who she is, she did not have to change, and that the Utsunomiya style will succeed with her by his side. He convinced her to speak the truth during the ikebana event, which she did.
